Has anyone ever seen a Bobwhite cortinux cross in person ? I have heard of them but just wonder if it can really happen?

I doubt that cross would be possible, because bobwhites are from a completely different family to japanese (coturnix) quails. Japanese quails are from the Phasianidae (pheasant) family, and bobwhites are from the Odontophoridae (new world quail) family, so they aren't related at all (except for order and above). The only reason they are both called quails is because they're a similar shape.

Kinda what I was thinking , I remember years ago some company was selling the crossed eggs but they never would out pictures up. Thanks for the info

Bob's will cross with 'New World' species of quail. I had Bob's and Blues together in a very large pen. They interbred both ways...Bob over Blue and Blue over Bob but the chicks didn't live long after hatching? Idk why? I speculated that some of the gene's just didn't combine correctly. :idunno
