How long does it take for a Bob to mature enough to butcher???? I am looking at getting some for really cheap but wasnt sure how long it takes...

I have 30 free bobwhite quail eggs, $10 for shipping only, if anybody is interested. Just PM me. I ordered an incubator from GQF and they sent me 30 quail eggs today, even though I requested they not send them. Hate to see them go to waste.

I was just in the same boot, ordered the machine for incubating duck eggs. They did send me 35 bobwhite eggs. 9 were infertile, I hatched 17, and I'm so glad not more then that. They are the most cannibalistic mean birds I've ever seen and they are not even a week old. Can't wait until they are old enough to be released. No dead onces yet, but boy they do pick until blood comes out someones rear. I have to isolate one each day to heal. They usually do heal fast, but still. I'm giving them a high protein feed, keep the brooder dark, use a red heat lamp, have salt and other additives in their water, and they are not over crowded. I'm doing everything according to the book and they still do it. My suggestion, and I may upset others with that, is cook the eggs and eat them or feed the cooked ones to your dogs (assuming you have some). I guess the idea of them sending the eggs is to test the machine. I didn't want the eggs either, and didn't want to throw them out either. Just like you. Do yourself a favor and get the thermometer/hygrometer for the machine. The thermometer they send is junk, see label on top of machine. I've got a digital one at Walmart for under 7 dollars, works really nice and is small enough to leave in the machine with egg turner in place. Here is the link for the product on Walmart's website:
