i have 4 northern bobwhites that have lived together for almost a year with no problems. i have 2 males and 2 females. this past weekend they started fighting bad enough i had to seperate them. i put a male and a female together and theyre fine. they also have never laid an egg untill 2 weeks ago. do the 2 have anything to do with each other?

Its breeding season there fighting over Girls.Sometimes they settle it, but not so often.Seperate them in pairs is a good option as long as you got cages....cva34

This is the nature of Bobwhites. They will live in peace as young Bobs, but as they mature and come into breeding mode, they want their own territory. They do not do well in trios or multiple pairs. So each breeding season, spring thru fall, you will have to keep the pairs separate. Once the breeding season is over, they will enjoy being back together for the winter covey.
