Hello, just to give a brief background I started a quail farm in the Spring of 2020 starting around with 20 Northern Bobwhites and 20 Coturnix. All came as eggs and from a qualified breeder. This past summer I started building up my Bobwhite population in hopes for a future business possibly. The Coturnix have nothing to do with this thread as they are caged seperately from my Bobwhites.
Now for my question, I have some bobwhite chicks that have white wing tips, anyone know what this is from or what it is? Since I started incubating my flock has grown to around 150-200 split into 2 flight pens/habitats (10'x8'x48'). I'm currently on my 7th round of incubation and have (4) chicks with white wing tips, (2) from the 5th round and (2) from 6th. Never before then have I seen this, all other markings are those normal in a Northern Bobwhite. The 2 from 5th round are at 7-8weeks old and about to join the flight pen here in next few days. Is this a rare occurence or related to albinism or melanistism? Any information is greatly appreciated.
