So I have 6 one month old bobwhite chicks, and I have noticed that only 1 has gotten very bright white feathers on and underneath it's wings that are quite long. Is this an indication of gender? Thanks so much!
(Bad picture, doesn't really show how much white there really is...)
Im no quail expert, but yes, I would take this as an arrow to gender. As the chick grows, just watch for signs that he/she is larger than the others, slightly more aggressive, marks themselves as the leader. . .etc. Or when theyre big enough you can just sex them.If it shows these signs, its probably male.
