Glad to hear that...I didn't expect them to lay until late fall or next spring!
As far as 3 eggs from 2 hens...means 1 hen already had 2 eggs in the 'pipeline', when the 1st egg was laid. They can not produce more than 1 egg in an 24 to 26 hour period but can lay 2 eggs in that time frame, if the hen is nervous, stressesd or feels it's is unsafe. The first egg had reached a stage where it set off the signal to release another ovum, thereby, having 2 eggs in the 'pipeline'.
