Hello!
We moved here 1.5 years ago with big dreams of turning this land into a permaculture, organic wonderland where we grow our own food (gardens and livestock) and give our children a large outdoor land to romp around on freely.
So far we have grown 35 Cornish cross meat chickens, 2 Tamworth hogs and have quite the egg operation with 33 egg laying hens, two handsome roos and 10 khaki campbell ducks. We also have two Nigerian Dwarf goats and hope to have them bred next fall. I also have one cross beak chicken that I tube feed twice a day and she is quite the sweetheart. She lives with our flock full time, just comes up to the house for feeding time. She just started laying beautiful pink eggs!
We have large gardens, some established, but we're finding out quickly it's a ton more work than we anticipated and very difficult to manage the deer, free range chickens and toddler from destroying all that is healthy haha. It's so fun to problem solve, though, and we are taking it all in stride.
So happy to be here and look forward to the advice!
