Body heat to keep chicks warm-power outage

:thumbsup
Having power outage just now. Came home from dropping kiddo at school to find all the chicks huddled in a corner. They're only a week old, so put them in their take home box and plopped it in front of the woodstove. Have a thermometer checking temps and have shifted it back once already.

Anybody have other methods?

You are fortunate to have a wood stove! I was in a panic last night at 3am. I think the stove should work well. Hope your power comes back on soon!

If you have a way of making/getting hot water when the power is out, you can also fill some jars with lids or milk jugs with it, set them around in the brooder, and lightly cover it with a blanket to hold the heat in. Just don't cut off all their air, lol. Did this with newly hatched chicks last year.

What I ended up doing was running to the nearest gas station and getting three "teas" without any tea.
