Hello fellow chicken folks! I have a small mixed flock of mostly laying hens and 2 roosters, for just under a year now. I never in a million years thought I'd be a "bird" person.... Well, I'm hooked now! I love my chickens! So far Im finding a particular fondness for the two little Danish Leghorns I have. They have such sweet quirky personalities. My small flock manages to pay for most of their own expenses via egg sales.

My mother-in-law and i also raised broilers last year, which was a whole other learning curve! We will likely continue to raise meat birds for ourselves/friends/family in the future.
