Cackle's high small order fees are one of the reasons I'm ordering from Ideal.

Ideal is not bad at all for chicks. This is 7 feather leg assortment from Ideal.

My only problem with Mt. Healthy is that you have to order 25.

Hatcheries are too expensive. When I looked I would have to pay like $50 for 6 chicks.

I'm in Texas, but Ideal ships "free" to me. The less chicks you buy the more it costs. I can get 25 for the same price as six, it's more about shipping than bird price.q

I didnt realize you were ordering bantams…the minimum standard chick order is as low as 3 in the spring & summer!

I completely forgot answer the actual question. I have had packing peanuts that were all Rhode island red males and a freebie barred rock pullet. Time of year will probably be the biggest indicator of potential freebies, some breeds lay much better in winter than others for example.
