Bony rooster

How is he doing?
He’s doing much better, but my other young rooster ended up being so sick. Danny has been moved back outside and I check his crop every night and now it is full. He’s still thin but gaining weight. He’s also started eating mini pellets—I think he was being hyper vigilant and also didn’t like crumbles. However, the night I brought Danny in, my young Satin Showgirl rooster was sitting next to a hen that he doesn’t usually sit by, and when I picked him up I realized he was very thin too. I brought him inside and he’s still living in my bathroom where it’s humid and warm. I’m having to tube feed him, giving 9cc of Kaytee exact baby bird formula at least 3 times daily. Today is the third day and he can barely stand. He’s got one eye closed but other than that I can’t see anything wrong. Fecal came back with Eimeria and tapeworm, everyone had a second dose of praziquantel on Tuesday. I’m wondering if anyone has a recipe for a recovery formula for tube feeding? Not sure what’s happening with him but since I can’t see anything externally, and he’s been dewormed twice now, I expected him to start perking up, and he’s just not.

This is Lisel, and this is how skinny he’s gotten since I first posted about Danny. At first he would eat soft mash food, then he stopped and only drank water. Now the only calories he gets is when I’m home to feed him. I hope I’m not too late.

I’m going to be home for the next 5 days so I will be doing some intensive feeding for Lisel, as I’m sure he’s not getting the calories he actually needs. Any tube feeding recipes will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you, and yes I’m trying to work on his dehydration. I’m going to give him some subcutaneous fluids today. I appreciate the link!

Update: Danny is much better, he has a full crop every night. I do believe he’s paying more attention to his girls than to food, so bringing him in to eat is working well. I’m bringing him in twice a day—first thing in the morning and last thing at night. He doesn’t eat as much in the evening but I work kinda late so I can’t do an afternoon meal. And he always has food in his crop at bedtime so that’s good. He’s gained weight too!
Thank you all for your responses and help. Unfortunately my young cockerel Lisel was euthanized today. He just kept getting weaker and weaker. I’m not sure what went wrong but my vet said he didn’t have any outward signs of uri. I couldn’t afford to send tissue samples to the lab, and elected not to do a necropsy. No one else is showing any signs of illness, so I’ll continue to monitor. RIP Lisel.
