I sort of miss the cheerful sounding "peep peep" when I go out my back door. Instead I hear various clucking. My four pullets are growing up! We've been introducing new treats to them. At first they walk up to something new and taste it, then quickly throw it down and run away. Then one of them will try it again, usually either Buffy or Daisy. Then if they decide they like it, they run with it while the others give chase! Even if there's plenty for everyone, they always want what the first one got!

We hung a head of cabbage in their run and they were terrified of it at first. Then they started jumping up at it. Now it's on the ground. The new thing is straw hubby put in the run. They're terrified of that now too, so they stay under the coop where he didn't put any while they were hiding there. I guess they'll have to risk walking over it to get into the coop at dusk. This should be funny to watch.

I know what you mean! My 7 wk old BR is starting to have kind of a low pitched "bwock, bwock," now. They just grow up so fast!!
Mine are 17 weeks old! OK, so if I can't hear the "peep peeps" any more, can I at least get some eggs? I've read that some have found eggs at 16 weeks old. Mine don't have full combs and wattles yet, so I don't suppose I'll be seeing eggs any time soon, either. However, I think I'll open up a nest box and put some straw and two wooden eggs in there ................ just in case.
