I want to cut out the middle man and incubate my own birds, both layers and meat birds... Anyone read a decent, modern-ish book that explains the whole process, including making one's own incubator?

I'm wrestling with many questions-too many to ask-and too much to expect answers to-although I have to say, people here have been most kind.

    Thanks,

I never read books on the subject but I did build the incubator and hatcher you can see in my pic----without plans. I hatched 6000 chicks in 2015 but I do not have a cross for meat birds like the Cornish X---one other thing---it cost alot to feed a bunch of layers so you got eggs to hatch. At my peak it was running a little more than $250 per week to feed just the chicks/chickens.
