Boredom busting in the flock

Everyone has those days when the hens randomly get bored and decide to chase each other and are a bit of a pain in the... well u know what! I think I've cracked the code. I got long willow sticks with loads of leaves and stuck them in the ground and the girls went crazy for them! They're really enjoying them and stop being bored. This is a great idea for folks who have smaller runs and bored hens. The hens just pluck off the leaves except for my rooster Walter who decided to pull up the whole stick, and then call the girls over, they have stopped reacting to Walter as it's always a false alarm and he never finds treats!

Good thinking! Hanging cabbages or apples can be entertaining. Cut open melons or chopped up veggies too. Pretty flock you have!

Yes, I love them. The flock is going to grow from 15 to 21 in a couple weeks. I have ordered 6 salmon faverolle pullets! The breed I've always wanted.

I have so many on my want list but only so much room and a salmon faverolle is one of them.
