I have a 5wk old chick that is a RIR roo / (poorly breed) EE cross. I was sittin in the outdoor brooder just chillin and I notices this one chick had no tail. I checked her for on injury and what I suspected as feather plucking. Found nothing..... Where the tail should have been there's an ever so small pad of skin. Other than that she is healty and on the same devlopmental level as the 10 other chicks.

Is there a breed that does not have a tail???

I agree with Tanichca. Look up Araucana and see if their "rumpless" shape seems to match your bird

Really ..... I've been on BYC since last March and I don't think any one ever mentioned that arucanas have no tails. I have posted the hens picture on two different threads to find out what she was and was told EE and that she had no EE in her. She looks like a partrage EE but she has a straight comb and white/yellow legs.

Now she has a tailess chick go figure.

Go to the breeds section on here and look up Araucana. They have quite a few pictures of how they are tail less. EE's are not a breed but a mix of a blue egg layer and another breed. EE's have no standard, no particular color and don't breed true as you have seen. It does sound like the blue egg layer in your hen's background might be the Araucana which could show up in her offspring. I am not real familliar with the genetics of tail less and whether it is recessive, although I am guessing it must be since you are not seeing it in the hen but possibly in her offspring. I apologize if you know some of this, I am not trying to offend.
Edited because I typed the wrong breed.
