BO's feathers gone around their butt!

We have 4 BO's and three of 4 have red skin near thei vent. Plain skin. Three inch diameter. Not causing them pain, egg laying perfectly normal. What caused this?!

I would check for lice or mites or bored chickens that like to peck butts

I have a BO with bare skin on the butt. She has a bare back too. We think other chickens were just picking the feathers off her butt.

sounds like you have A or Some , BUTT PLUCKERS ! I had a few birds that have done this esp during molt , they liked to pull the pin feathers out by the butt ! you need to spend some time w ypur flosk to find out who's doing it and seperate or get rid of them , one bird can teach this to others in the flock , hope this helps you !
