Does anyone feed black oil sunflower seeds? If so, do you just feed the regular stuff with the hulls and everything?

Feed it to ALL my chickens. Great food source for them. Egg yolks will stay darker in the winter too! They open the shells with ease.

Well, I got a bag at southern states and threw a couple handfuls in the run. They were a big hit! I couldnt see a single seed left on the ground after about 10 minutes. I didn't see them shelling them though? They seemd mostly to just gobble them down whole, so I hope they will be ok. I was thinking I might wait a few days before offering more, just to make sure nobody drops dead from too many sunflower seed hulls.

I put BOSS in my scratch treats - equal parts BOSS, cracked corn and race horse oats.

Each pen gets a handful in the mornings. They eat the sunflower seeds whole.

Like any food that is not a balanced meal, I would not overdo it.
