Until the end of the show. You'll get the best selection if you arrive early, although you may have to give people time to get their show birds settled in before they'll be willing to sell.

lilpeeps,
tried to pm you but your box is full.

You can email me at [email protected]

will anyone be selling dark egg bantams? looking for one or two of welsummers or barnevelders, preferrably two pullets but will take two hens if they are not pricey.

also.... what time does this show END?

Beth G. :

Hi Everyone,

Out of curiosity does anyone know if I should bring a table for my chickens I want to sell/give away? I have never been before and I know when I went to shay's chickenstock I wished I brought a table an chairs.

Thanks,
Beth

Ok folks... It has become a major Time-of-Upheaval-That-Leads-to-Necessary-Change in my life recently (Don't you just love those?

), and I need to cut my flock in half, including all of my boys, so here's what I'll have available. I hope some of you will be interested, because I know you will take good care of them and give them good homes and love them as much as I do.

All prices are negotiable, especially for a good home, and all pictures were taken this morning unless noted otherwise.

Little Blue - SQ Self-blue Belgian bearded d'Uccle cockeral, $15
Little Blue is one of two remaining birds from my first hatch (hatched May 15th), and thus has been hand raised and utterly loved. He's turned into such the little man! He was one of a batch of eggs from Leon Valley Trading Co, and he is BEAUTIFUL. His shape is good, his color and feathering is great, and my favorite part: he has feathering on not just the 3rd, or even the 4th, but on ALL 5 TOES! So far, he is great with the girls as well. He will be entered in the show on Sunday, so he'll even come with some bonus feedback from the judges for your future breeding and showing information. Here's a short video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aee-9dR29gc
This
pic doesn't show his great shape as well as I'd like, but you can watch the vid for a better idea...

Toes - not the best pic, but you get the idea

Henry - black mottled bantam cochin/porcelain Belgian bearded d'Uccle cross cockeral, $Totally negotiable to a good home
Henry is my baby. His egg got kicked out of the nest and cracked, so I had to literally hatch him by hand when he was ready. As if that wasn't enough, for his first 24 hrs he hadn't figured out how to stand and just shook his legs really fast when he wanted to turn around - it was by far the cutest thing I've ever seen! (I think he didn't get the benefit of pushing himself out of the egg to figure out how to use his legs). He is everyone's favorite, and has been my main "chicken ambassador" at recent public events, because he'll just sit in your hand for hours... in fact, half the time he sees that as a cue for naptime! He's about 6 mos old now, and this is a wonderful bird. Henry's "chicky dance" vid:

My favorite baby pic - look at that strut!

Dad (now owned by Shay, though will apparently not be in the show this time around):

Hansel - Gold-laced bantam cochin cockeral, $5
Hansel is SUCH a character! He is super sweet, and the only one of mine that prefers to climb all over me whenever I'm kneeling in the pen. Bred by Covered Bridge Poultry, and hatched by my ladies around July 1st (4 mos old). And yes, he does have a sister named Gretel, whom I'm keeping... Here's a link to pics of his parents on Covered Bridge Poultry's FB page. I can't tell yet, but based on his parents and what I can see so far, I suspect he'll have some decent show potential. A short vid:

Clyde - Mille fleur Belgian bearded d'Uccle, $5
Clyde, like his parents, is not too interested in being held because he has so much to DO... he's quite busy, thankyouverymuch. But he has been handled a lot and is a good little boy. Hatched around July 1st, so 4 mos. old. Again, I can't tell yet, but based on his parents (both SQ - Mom's acceptable though not great, Dad's gorgeous) and what I can see so far, he will at least have some decent breeding potential. Probably not great show potential, given that there are so many MF d'Uccles being shown around here - I don't think he'll hold up against the competition (good comb, decent shape and color, but not great foot feathering). But maybe he'll grow into himself a bit.

Mom (she's always SO busy that I can't ever get a good picture! I need to wait until she's asleep, I think.):

Dad (same roo as Henry's dad pic above - now owned by Shay and according to her last post will unfortunately not be in the show this time):

And lastly, the ducks...
Calliope and Apollo - pair SQ Black East Indies bantam ducks, $50
These two are beautiful. And hilarious. Pictures don't do them justice, though some of you saw them at the last stock I attended at Shay's place a couple of months ago. They were bred by Shawn Streeter (hatched spring/summer 2009) and are both nice and small, and have great color and conformation. I'm really excited to show them on Sunday and see how they stand up to the competition (so you'll have some judges' feedback on these two as well). As with most ducks, they're not particularly tame, though they will both come take treats and worms out of your hand. They're very helpful: Calliope enjoys trying to clean my dog's tail, and Apollo especially LOVES trying to help groom my cochins... Like I said, they are hilarious!
Pics: blurry, but you can get an idea of the richness of Apollo's color, and maybe of their size. Obviously Apollo needs a bath before Sunday! And I'm going to take off that leg band...
