Bottom of post pgs " subscribe to topic" ?

What does that mean. I was reading a post and was going to click page 2 in the lower left hand of the page and I went a little to far and clicked subscribe. What does the subscribe feature do? I've never noticed it for almost 3 years.

If you subscribe to a topic, you will get an email every time that topic has a new post.

How do you unsubscribe?

Go to the topic, bottom left is unsubscrbe- if you are subscribed. It will do the change when you log out.
