Botulism Diagnoses Tip I learned from the vet

During the time that I thought my hen had botulism, here's a tip in diagnoses that my vet told me, so I thought I'd pass it along:

Touch the chicken's eyeball - if she doesn't blink when you touch it, she has botulism.

Take it for what it's worth, just thought I'd offer it up. (I myself have some weird fear of eyeballs and flat out refused to do this myself!)

I cringed when you said it too. Can I do it? Maybe.

That's a good way to confirm blindness too without touching. Or watching the pupil if the light is good enough.
