Bought some chickens, but where are my eggs?

When buying full grown chickens, you really dont know how old they are. They could be 12 months, or they could be 3 years old. Either way, with the move and the time of year, Id give them some time. Hopefully they are only as old as you were told.

If you are in the Northern Hemisphere then you are in winter.. Low light cold etc... that combined with the trauma of the move will cause a lack of eggs... Did you EVER get any eggs from the girls? I would have expected the first day to see an egg or two if they were truly laying.... Good luck!

Im having the same problem, 6 buff brahmas (2 roosters,4 hens) bought almost 2 weeks ago that are approx 1yr old that were laying before they were moved and are not laying yet. 10x16 covered run...4x4x4 house with 6 nesting boxes...hay,layena,cracked corn, fresh water, any scraps off the table, let out to free range for cpl hours every day.

Check where they are free ranging. Look in nooks and crannies, under things, like bushes, partially overturned buckets/flower pots.

Chickens hate change. The change of environment has set them off, and it may be a month or better before you see eggs. If they were truly laying, you should have gotten a couple of eggs that were in the "assembly line" the first day or so. Hopefully they are just young hens approaching point of lay rather than old burnt out hens.

Thanks for all the help. I did see the "sticky" after I posted. UPDATE: Still no eggs. But, when we let the girls out this afternoon, one did start to nest in the wood chips I have in the garden. Maybe that's just what they're used to? I got some more and put it in their nesting boxes tonight. The wait continues...

Yeah, ditto to the rest. We went on vacation and our son watched the flock. Something got one of the hens, so he kept them in in their run for most of the week. They were really mad, and egg production went down for a few days. Give them time and love!!!! and they will produce.

Day 7 and counting with no eggs. Got some pine shavings today to see if thier highnesses need something special in their nests. Here is a pic if anyone wants to tell me some of the breeds. Let them out and they liked to hang under the orange tree.

I kept my girls in a German Shepherd sized dog cage until I got the coop built. The day after I finished the coop, egg #1 appeared! I think their legs were crossed, waiting for the coop. I would guess their age to be 6-7 months at the time.
