Bound egg

My inches perception may be off. I went in just past the first knuckle of my index finger. It definitely felt like an egg straight in and slightly up. However, I think I will be a bit more cautious with this kind of exam in future because I don't want to injure her. I found it interesting that "the chicken chick" does external exams if egg binding is suspected.
That's an egg then!

Hi! I need help. Please show me the video. Princess is egg bound too.

You are probably accurate in your diagnosis. You're doing all the right things. But giving her calcium 400mg at least, will help considerably to get her body to pass the egg.

If, by this evening, she's still in distress, and you can see the egg stuck behind the membrane in the cloaca, you may need to insert an oiled gloved finger to free it from the membrane. There's one very explicit YouTube video that shows this. If I can find it, I'll stick it up.

Hi @Leenidia
sorry to hear Princess is having problems. How long has she been eggbound? Have you given her an epsom salt bath and calcium?? Taking out the egg yourself is very risky and should only be done as a last resort. If you search on youtube you should find the video. Normally, if you give her calcium, and bath her gently massaging her abdomen, she will lay. But time is of the essence.

Thank you for your response.
I have given her a bath in epson salt, rubbed her abdominal and placed some oil on her vent. She has been like this since this early this morning. She can’t seem to get her egg out which is concerning. She’s a great layer and don’t understand what happened. I gave her extra calcium but she isn’t eating but drinking profusely, as if she is dehydrated. I also gave her a dose of nutri- drench. How long do I wait and what other treatments can I provide her? She’s in the house with me and am afraid to let her back out in this condition.
