Welcome to BYC, Ferny. Glad you decided join our flock. My wife and I were both raised in the great state of Texas. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. What kind of hens do you have?

Hi :welcome Ferny

Glad you could join the flock! How exciting for you to be on this new adventure into chicken keeping. Try not to be nervous and enjoy the experience. It really is so much fun raising them I absoloutly love it and just can't stop myself sometimes. If you have any questions or concerns everyone here can help you along the way.

Wishing you the very best of luck and enjoy BYC too :frow

Thank you so much everyone for the warm welcome! The chickens ended up being a birthday present, I ordered on 4/6! I ended up buying from My Pet Chicken, 6 Easter Egger hens and 3 Australorp hens! They should be shipping the 27th, but I did have some complications with my order! LOL

I kept trying to submit the order and every time I did it would lead me to the same error page but I stubbornly decided to keep resending the order in hopes it would finally work. After about 10 attempts, I gave up and decided it would be better to just wait till the next day. I check my bank account the next morning and I see this

Needless to say, I called MPC

Sorry about the complications with your order. Australorps are my favorite standard breed. I've raised them for years (along with dozens of other breeds), and they are extremely hardy, calm and gentle (my chiildren and granddaughter made lap pets of them), and the best layers of the standard, brown egg laying breeds. Our Easter Eggers are my granddaughter's (pictured in my avatar) favorites. She loves their colored eggs. Good luck in getting your chicks.
