Bovine Chicken???

OK, I am working on setting up my chicken set-up and I was talking to someone and she said she had (what I thought I heard as) Bovine chickens....I have never heard of them, I can't find anything in searches about them...I am starting to think I heard her wrong.

I have found a lot on the sex links as hybrids, but nothing on other kinds of hybrids, either. It seems the heritage birds are the way to go, and I am not really sure I want to end up with mutant birds, esp if they are named after COWS! (edited to add:mutant only in the sense that I have no idea what a bovine chicken is, no offense to hybrid raisers)
She described them as red feathered and docile, but that is about all I could get out of her. I am almost positive she said bovine...

There are Bovan browns, which also go by the name Dekalb Brown, Hy-line brown, Isabrown, Sex-sal-link Brown and Red Sex-link.
The hatchery I use for my layers used to list all the names that Isas are called, since the name can vary from hatchery to hatchery. I always thought that was helpful.

Ohhh, if they are Buff Orpingtons, I will be really pleased....any more thoughts? I am going to spend much of today making buff orpington sound like Bovine

OK so now I got to reading about sex-links and got a little nervous...is this hybrid in fact docile and nice as the lady I talked to said? I am finding good reviews on here about them, but need some quick clarification for my nervous stomach.

My concerns: are they docile generally?

Are they cold hardy? (they need to be pretty durn cold hearty if we are going to have another winter like we just had)

hee hee, true. But bovine chicken was just making me giggle. I assume Brahma is a place name? a region? Bovine being the general cow term had me really confused. I am really glad I had that all cleared up....

edited to add: oooh seems like Brahma is a god of Hindu origin. I think I knew that at one point in my lifetime... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brahma

Here's a great dictionary I found.
http://www.country-enterprise.co.uk/dictionary/poultry.htm at least it mentions Bovan Goldline. Seems people will make things very confusing as they name the hybrids in their own special ways.
