Boy or girl??

I have recently got 6 Chinese Painted Quails and they have reached the stage where I need to split them up before any fighting starts. Three are, I think, 'Normal' variety... Mainly greyish colour but getting darker as they get older. Two are definitely males, complete with very obvious bibs. But the third has similar colours, including reddish sides, but without the bib - does this mean a female for sure?

There are also two 'Wild' types (I think!)... One is light brown and one is dark brown. Does that mean a female and male?

Pictures would really help. Males will start getting red feathers around the vent area, but it might not be until they are up to 8 weeks old.

Would love some pictures as nabiki said also only males get red, but not all males due to color morphs

The first one looks like a girl, the second looks like a boy. I'm 80% sure on those.

Thanks, we were convinced the first one was a boy just because there was a dark and a light one but actually one of the definite males seems to have taken to that one and has started offering food to it. Will be interesting to see as it's called Kiwi... I may have to change my username!!

Give them some crushed up unsalted peanuts and watch how they go crazy over it and offer it to females only to eat a good piece then quickly find another to offer lol

Thanks very much for the replies... So the second could be male even if it hasn't developed the bib? I was thinking it was a hen because when they were younger this one was completely identical to another (pic below) but he now has a very bright bib but this one's never appeared...
