Ok I know its asked here a million times but one more time wont hurt, right
Its a California white leghorn. Its 5 weeks old today.
If its a male, when do they start showing male traits. In watching my chicks this one seems to be low on the pecking order. When I refill the food they all pile on it and gorge themselves, except for this one, it stays back and waits for some to get done. If I give treats and it actually manages to get its beak on one the others easily steal it from it.
I guess I'm wondering if it does this because its a male and it wants to make sure his girls have enough food. It does try to peck me if I reach in like its protecting the flock. Size wise its the smallest bird out of the 17.
