Boy Trouble

It would be such a shame to keep 1 drake by himself like you said they are very social, best would be too find homes for 2 of your drakes or get more girls. There should at least be 3-4 ducks to every drake.

Yeah, I realized I contradicted myself there after I wrote it. I meant if I got rid of him. So, even if they free roam I still need to get rid of some? And if I did get rid of two males should I still get one more female/ I read it should be 1 male to 4 females

The fact that they free range helps, but it's up to you as far as getting rid of your drakes if they are roughing up the girls then you have too many drakes, I have 3 drakes now to 9 ducks and because my one drake is only 9 weeks old it's been pretty good this year, now next year we'll just have to see. The only thing going for me is my oldest drake is 9yrs and slowing down some. Got 1 female so far out of this years hatching and 1 too young to tell and 2 more to hatch in July so won't know what my ratio is for a while yet. My 1 yr old drake is the crazy one this year.way too much testosterone for his own good. But so far all my girls look good, You'll have to decide whats best for your girls by how much wear an tear the boys do to them. and yes 4 ducks to 1 drake is the best ratio.
