GALLOWAY: Squirrel blamed for fire at school

GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) — Officials say a squirrel started a fire that forced the evacuation of a southern New Jersey high school.


Bayview Volunteer Fire Company assistant chief Chuck Mackintosh says the squirrel shorted out a transformer at Absegami High School on Tuesday.


Mackintosh says one of three air conditioners then shorted out. Mackintosh says the remaining air conditioners overheated and caught fire.

that used to happen at our old house a lot, except minus the fire. WE just were out power for a bit. Had to wait for the lineman to come out and fix it, and of course he'd leave the dead squirrel lying there for us kids to inspect
