Some one starting a hatchery (sold her a trio of japanese pullets last year) is buying all our chicks, did i say that already?

Hey your good with diseases, so i was petting my 6 week old polish's breast, well i thought i was petting a bunch of poofy fluff, i was actually petting skin, his whole breast is squishy and feels like puff, hes drinking and such so im not sure if hes just weird or it hasnt been affecting him (yet) i posted a thread but only got 1 reply, and the person said leave it alone or cull him, i dont wanna cull a chick but i worry, any ideas? i can see his skin and hes the only polish not picked on (has ALL his top hat)

Hmm, that is a bit odd. You said he was a chick, only 6 weeks, I would panic yet. If your chicks are picking on each other, he may be loosing some chest feathers. If he's the hat puller, sombody else may be getting even, and plucking him where they could reach, or something got a mouthful of feathers.

I'd give him a bit of time, especially if he's eating and drinking. It'll probobly pass as he matures.

I'd seperate those babies a bit, if they are that aggressive, or maybe add vitamins to their water, and give them a red light to decrease hostility.

Cochin - go to the polish chat, and tell them whats up. They will know a lot more about polish and chickens both than I do. Or, go to hatch day is today, and ask there. (My buds there too) They are a very wise group of old hens, if ya know what I mean. Mostly my age! LOL

6 week olds- 3 other polish, some OEGB, cochins the frizzle with toes that are half the length they should be,

3 week olds- more OEGB, dutch bantam, brahma, more OEGB (we think)

Used to be with him - turken, LF, mor OEGB, brahma, (seperated due to bullying)

and 2 6 day olds, a buck eye and austrolorp

Yes i know 6 week olds shouldnt be with 6 day olds, we did lose one but due to he was lethargic and sick when we got him, he was pecked cause of that, the other ones havent been touched by a beak ,in fact their so dang healthy they jumped out of a tall box
