Boys VS Girls

Yes and no. When the weater is above freezing, yes outside is ok with a roof and a little wind protection. However, mostly they are kept in metal cages in a garage or barn. They are freaks about cats and coons and stuff buggin them, and they shouldn't be bothered much or they won't breed. (They'll still lay eggs though)

Are you thinking about getting some? You can keep a trio in a bird cage.

Your place may not be a good scene for them, unless you can talk her into the house birds. They can be made very tame.... But, if outside, and not garage or anything, is their only choice, I'd go for more bantem chickens. :) Or bantem ducks, they are very cold hardy, if you keep feeding them! LOL
