BR Losing feathers at neck

My 9 m/o BR has a bare spot of both sides of her neck. I watched her last night and noticed she is sometimes scratching at the spots. I see no signs of sores or redness - just missing the feathers.

I have two others (Austr) that are not losing any feathers. Any ideas?

could be molting, but seems a little young for that. Have your checked for worms and mites

At 9 months, they do go through a mini-molt and that is exactly where the feathers get sparse, at the neck, under the ear area.

Just wanted to say thank you for posting this info. We live in coastal Northern California and my 9-mo Jersey Giant, "Snuggle" has a ring around her neck of what appears to be just the feather pins. I searched and got this info immediately. You guys are sooooo great!! Thanks!!
