I noticed one of my 2 wk old BR had runny poop today, looked kind of milky under the red light, so not sure exactly what color it actually was. I picked up the poult and noticed that its vent was crusty. I took it in and cleaned it off then dried it w/ a blow drier on low. Poult did very well. My husband helped me mark it w/ food coloring then I took it back to the brooder. It sat under the light for a little while, but then got up and ate. I put some yogurt in the brooder and dipped its beak. Nobody like the yogurt, just walked in it. I also have ACV w/ the mother in the water. Anything else I should do? I've been very careful to do turkey chores before chicken chores. Also have sanitizer in the barn and am diligent about using it. I am the only one who does the chores right now. However, my DD told me tonight that she tried to feed the turks a worm the other day when she was feeding the chicks. She said they didn't eat it though, but maybe later as she isn't able to lift the lid of the brooder to take it out. Sorry this is so wordy, but I'm trying to take care of them the way I have learned here.

just get the molasses in the water and that will help the poult poop thru the crust and will help clean them out, this is the best cure we have found for paste butt also it is a great preventive for paste butt. Yes the molasses is a laxative for poultry but this is what is needed to battle and defeat the paste butt.

Good luck
