FREEZING cold night tonight (well this morning now sunrise soon, its 5am). Anyway i had a duck hatch ducklings yesterday andabandon the nest leaving obe duckling which had externally pipped and was still alive and chipping away at the egg. I put it under the only broody duck i have here as all of my heat pads, heatplates, and more importantly temp controllers are being used on other ducklings. She sat on it from mid-afternoon till sometime early am when she got off and i found it very cold.
So with no other option for a live hatching baby I put it in my bra and its still there now. It had mostly stopped moving as expected as it was cold but has picked up hatching activity now.
Im just wanting some advice on boobie hatching, lol from anyone out there. I have it in one cup as im well endowed and i cant fit it between the girls on its side which it needs to be to be in hatching position. The underboob thing doesnt feel right either in my underwire bra. Im worried it might get crushed lol.

I dont haveany ither safe ways to keep this little one warm, but also am very tired, and while I have read about people incubating Eggs and sleeping with them inside their bra, I am a side sleeper and don't feel the egg will be safe in there if I fall asleep. Maybe if I slept on my back that would be okay.

If there is anybody out there as crazy as me to attempt this who can post or PM me I would really appreciate some advice right now.

The Duckling is pretty well into its hatch. It has pipped and started to zip, so I suspect this request for advice will become a moot point in the next five or six hours.

I just took the egg out of my bra to have a wee listen and the surface to touch is in my opinion significantly colder than what an egg feels like when it is underneath a mother Duck or an incubator, however that Duckling is actively pipping and has now for the first time peeped hello at Me.
This brings a whole new meaning to being a Duckling mum, in comparison to the numerous Ducklings I have hatched/assisted to hatch in an incubator that have then imprinted on me and been raised by Me
But ive been awake all night already looking after other duckling issues overnight so now sure how much longer i can stay awake, and as above as a side sleeper I dont feel like the baby is safe in there while i sleep....

Maybe some kind of heating pad or hot water bottle? Obviously being careful of the temperature. You could try a jar of hot water with a lid on it. Put the jar and the egg inside a box to contain the heat.

Of course this would require some fussing with a temperature to get the temperature right, but then you should be able to at least take naps in between refilling the jar.

Can you combine some of the other ducklings into one group, so this egg can have a heat source and a temperature controller? Or use an alternate heat source for some of them?

Something like a jar of hot water will work better with an already-hatched duckling that can move away from the heat at first, then come closer as it cools, then make noise to wake you up when the jar is too cold. Some kinds of light bulb can also be used as a heat source for ducklings but don't work as well with eggs. Maybe you could try that with one group older duckings, and use their former heat source for the egg.

Or depending on how old the other ducklings are, you might be able to just take away their heat source if they have a box to huddle together and retain body heat. Or maybe bring older ducklings into the house (warmer than outdoors) and take their heat source for this egg.

Do you have a place to put the duckling after it finishes hatching?
