I just found out 9 month old beautiful Brabanter named Poopsy passed away in her coop. She was in egg laying position and had a large egg 80% emerged in tact but with blood all around it. There is brown poop on the coop below but nothing out of the ordinary in size or shape or color, slightly more wet than normal. Any hints around why this might ocurr. We are devastated to lose this little layer. She was in the coop last night with her feathers ruffled out. There are 19 other hens in the coop all perky and happy.
