Hi there,
I'm looking for information on Braekel chickens, specifically:
- Is Braekel considered a predatory bird?
- Are Braekel chickens in the Middle East also known as Baladi, and, have Braekel/Kempin chickens historically been known in the Middle East?
- What shape are eggs from Braekel hens? Are they round, pointed at one end, or pointed at both ends?
Thank you!

They're not more predatory than any other chicken. They'll take bugs and possibly mice if given the opportunity. If you mean are they more aggressive than other breeds, the answer is no. Braekels are an old Belgian breed, similar to Campines but a little heavier and the males aren't hen-feathered like male Campines. The eggs are normal, pointier on one end and rounder on the other. They are not a Middle Eastern breed but it is hypothesized that they and some other Belgian/Dutch breeds descended from the Egyptian Fayoumi, which is a North African breed.
