I have a couple real shy and a few that will about eat my hand off when I offer meal worms but none want to be touched. Mine were hatched by my Muscovy so I didn’t have hands on them but after 2 yrs they are much better with me.

Well, his leg is shaking less today, but now I think I have another problem. Geez.
He has a wheezing sound when he breathes. I have been bring down the heat in the room to 78, since the have been getting feathers and probably don’t need to be at 85 or higher anymore. They are a month old now.
But the drake always climbs up on the water bowl(with holes in the lid) and now he sits on it. Is it possible he got a chill? He’s dunking his head periodically so it can’t be clogged nairs.

I also took pictures of his eyes.
I know y’all must think I have Munchhausen disease...with all this worrying.

Maybe they don't need the heat at all. Are you getting them outside at all?
I took my ducks off of heat at 4-5 weeks. They were in a heated 60° building. They sat on their water dish and would knock the lid off and be in the dish too.

Ok. So it’s not likely that he got a chill from being wet. My house stays about 74*F, except the bathroom which is where their brooder is. I have a radiant heater working in there.

I haven’t been brought them outside much. But, I’m getting close to finishing the Quack Shack.
The unfinished wall will be hardware cloth.

Boy that’s going to be nice. I’d try letting them without heat and you’ll know if they need it they will bundle up together at month month in Texas they should be fine without it. Except if they were out side with out shelter and got wet then that would be a concern

I would let them outside for playtime regardless if the coop is done yet. They won't go far from you. You could set up a temp pen if you dont have time to just sit out with them (I like to work when I am outside).

Just an update. His legs are doing great now. So that’s cleared up. But does anybody know why his left eye always looks wet?
He isn’t acting like its hurting or anything. Here is a picture. It might be hard to see because Count Blackula has black feathers, but it’s only his left eye.

Do they have a way to dunk their heads to clean out their eyes and nares? Heading washing is very important. Other than that I am not sure he sure looks healthy I can see flight feathers starting

Yeah. He has a dunking bowl with holes cut into the lid for drinking and washing.
Here is an picture from last week(maybe older) right before he mounted the bowl. He does that occasionally.

Well it looks good. Maybe try adding a teaspoon of ACV to their drinking dunking bowl ACV can kill certain bacteria And can be used as a tonic. If it begins to drain you might want to think of some Terramycin eye ointment. Is there anything in their brooder he could be rubbing his eye on or poking it on?
