Braggs Mountain Buffs

I have 2 hens that have to be close to laying age I think. I got them from a friend who is friends with the BMB farm manager and made the trip to pick up 10 of them that were white earlier this year. According to the website about 5% of BMB's have the white gene still although they claim they will be able to breed that out eventually. They are a large bird...largest of all my chicks. My hens are growing larger than my Rose Comb RIR Roo. The older one even takes him on when he gets onrey and she won't back down. He doesn't know what to do with her...lol. I am not sure of their ages but believe them to be about the same as the others as none are laying yet. The things I have observed is when they are out in the yard they tend to not care about being with the others when they're interested in eating grass/bugs, but they don't necessarily keep themselves away. They just don't have the "need" to stick with everyone else like the others tend to. Each of the BMB girls will wander off by themselves seemingly in their own little world, but they all come together for treats and get along just fine. They will hang out with the others when they are done eating. They just tend to be more independent I suppose. They are good foragers and will scratch to find goodies. The 2 BMB's do seem to want to always be next to each other at night in the coop though. They will make others move to get next to each other. Hopefully they will start to lay soon and I can update on the egg production. My friend has recently made the trip to get some of the buff color ones to breed as well. I hope to get a few more from him next spring.

thanks! I'm pretty sure I will get some of these next spring, unless I go and forget about them... LOL They seem like some neat birds!
