Brahma chickens

Hi and welcome!! I’m just starting out with 18 chickens myself….but I have fallen in love with Brahmas. I DO NOT have any currently but I already have my husband convinced to build their own chicken house. My only problem, I can’t decide if I want a dark Brahma or a light brahma….they are both so pretty!
I have buff, light, and dark. The dark are my favorites, but it probably depends on where you get them.
If you can get eggs or chicks from a breeder, you'll probably get better quality chicks.

I will probably get them from Cackle. I don’t know of any breeders near me. And Google isn’t much help with that. I’m kinda leaning towards the light Brahmas. But they are all so pretty!!

Are you just interested in hens? If so, a hatchery is the way to go. You may still get a male, but your chances of getting females are much improved.

I would want probably one male and hens. They would have their own coop and run because of how big they are. The current coop we have won’t be big enough.
I wouldn't order a male. I'd just order extra females, from the reviews I've read (for cackle) you'll probably end up with a male.
