My Brahma Rooster, Blue, who is 2 foot 5 and around 12 pounds, has recently lost a lot of feather from his middle and outer toe, I’ve seen him and my Lohmann Brown hens pecking at it. There is no blood bu it looks pink, I just wanted to wonder why this is, how to stop it, and if it’s a problem.
Also, at least Blue is producing some bananary looking poop today, is this a concern? EA2FD88E-BCFD-4D91-A455-8EDA952907EF.jpeg sorry for the bad picture

Photos of all of him?

Hard to tell anything about the feet. You can try applying NuStock cream to see if that helps, possibly something is irritating the foot if he's picking at them. Look for an ingrown or broken feather that may be painful or raised scales that may indicate the beginnings on Scaly Leg Mites.

Poop can be all sorts of colors and consistencies. Is this a one time poop? Have you fed anything differently, is he active and eating/drinking?

This is a one off, assuming it’s something he’s ate while ranging. No signs of mites, so I’ll look for an ingrown feather. I’ll try to find a photo I have of him.

his feet look muddy, so I wonder if he is attempting to clean/de-clump the mud or an irritation. might considered washing his feet up really well to get a good look.

Thanks, I’ve heard of high clay soil being a particular issue, and I believe my soil is quite high in clay. I’ll give his feet a clean tomorrow. Maybe regularly washing his (and my other brahmas) feet may be the solution.
