Hi! I recently picked up a BBS Partridge Brahma pullet. She's 7 weeks old and is gold and blue with the partridge pattern. I was initially interested in picking up 3 pullets but when I was sent photos, I knew right away 5 of the 6 were roos...3 boys were splash with solid rust on shoulders and the 2 dark boys...I assumed BBS Partridge. Because I prefer acclimating birds to flock in groups of 3+ when possible, I grabbed 2 of the boys. One I believe is a BBS partridge cockerel... he's gold and blue with some patterning and the solid rust on shoulders. But I believe cockerel # 2 to be an SBO...his neck is blue and silver flecked at this age and not gold. I had no intentions of keeping the boys and planned to rehome them down the road once they were introduced to flock and pullet is comfortable with her new flockmates (or sooner if I could find similar aged pullets to add to brooder now so that girls would bond and roos would no longer be needed down the road.) BUT...I would love more brahma pullets in future...and these color variations don't seem easy to come by. So if I were to keep a roo, what coloration could I expect with the BBS partridge roo x BBS partridge hen and what can I expect from crossing the BSO roo x BBS partridge hen? Thanks!
