My Buff Brahma (one year old) has been having a problem with the feathers on her legs for about four months now. It looks as though they are being plucked out or breaking off leaving about a 1/8 inch stub with blood on the tip. None of my other Brahmas have this problem. It also looked as though she had scaly leg mites, but I bathed her and rubbed Vaseline on her legs several times in the past four months, and that seems to have cleared up. But the stubs are still appearing.

She doesn't seem to have lost her appetite. She is not being bullied.

Is this part of molting? Poor Baby!!

If you know what's going on, please respond so I can help her. Thanks!!

This is actually common in feather legged breeds. The feathers will sometimes break before fully developing, essentially "blood" feathers, thus the blood will leak out. Just keep an eye out to make sure no infections have occured and the rest of the flock leaves it alone.
