Brahmas

Hey I'm getting some chickens they're brahmas right now I have a I need except for the fence how high does it need to be?

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join to our flock. The first breed I ever had were Brahmas, and they were gentle giants. If you're asking how high you need to build a fence so that the Brahmas won't fly over, I doubt you can build one high enough. Despite being large birds, Brahmas are actually pretty good flyers and mine had no trouble flying up onto a rooster 7 feet above the ground. If you want them to stay within the confines of a fence, you'll have to trim the flight feathers on one wing which will throw them off balance and prevent them from flying over the fence. Even then, I'd make the fence at least 6 feet high. Also after each molt, you will have to clip the wing again as the flight feathers will grow back. Hello and Welcome To BYC! X2 what Michael OShay said. You might also consider covering your pen, with wire or netting to keep the chickens in, and at least deter hawks if they are a problem in your area.

Hello everyone from East Tennessee!

We love them!
