Hello,
This is our first time having hatched ducklings and it came as a complete surprise to us (usually the eggs never hatch). They just hatched the other day (July 9th) and most are healthy except for one little guy who can't walk or even stand up. I found him abandoned by his mom laying in the hay away from the nest, so I brought him inside and was able to get him to drink some water. There seems to be a wound on the side of his head and he always curls his neck to his chest and tucks his legs under his chin while he lays on his side. My dad believes he didn't develop fully in the egg and There for thinks the wound is part of his brain being exposed. Does anyone know if there is anything we can do to nurse him back to health? I would hate to put him down but I also don't want the little guy to suffer. Please help.
Thank you

It's hard to know without pictures but is it possible he got picked at by another bird or rat? We had a rat get into our barn and kill a bunch of our freshly hatched baby ducks. Try putting electrolytes in its water and just keep an eye on him. Sometimes they can surprise you and survive things you never would have guessed.

These are some pictures. I guess it could be possible something got to them, but this little guy is the only one with injuries of any kind. I'll try the electrolytes, thank you :)
