Ok so I just set 20 blue black splash ameraucana eggs. 8 are from a breeder who shows and won all kinds of awards. The others from someone else. They look the same as far as the shells go. I marked the show ones. But once they hatch it'll be chaos (47eggs total in the bator). So any ideas how I could possibly identify the show ones? And I am pretty sure I don't want to open the incubator during hatching? I can't come to any clever ideas other then pulling them out and marking them if I can tell what shell they came out of but even that's impossible without risking the others. Thanks

Without knowing what kind of incubator you're running, I guess (3 days before hatch) you'll be taking the eggs from the tray(s) to the incubator floor... Any way you can separate these eggs from the others at that stage?... Make a floor divider wall (with a piece of hardware cloth, for example) and place the show eggs apart?...

This is how far my "clever idea" goes...

Yes! That's a great idea. Now to figure out some divider. Maybe just a Tupperware with the floor cut out? I'll have to try some things out. Its a farm innovators incubator with no fan or turner and 20 of the eggs are quail so pretty roomy actually even with 47 eggs.

Just use some material that won't catch fire or melt and make a divider box (without the floor like you said) for those eggs/chicks.

Keep in mind this box will be placed just below and very near the heating element... I assume it doesn't get that hot but, just for safety's sake, I would try to avoid plastics in that area...
