Brand new 'bator...some questions :-)

I would do that or at least till the morning to make sure it stays stable and give your eggs a bit of a resting time. Stop turner and take out at day 18 then cross your fingers and stare endless hours hoping for peeps and pips, LOL.

Yes this is a still air, thank you for that tip :)
I do have the turner plugged in, the 'bator has been at a steady 100 for the last couple of hours now.

I sure do appreciate all of the help, you folks are wonderful!

The 1602 is a fine incubator...ain't no tellin' the thousands of chickens (and other birds) that have been hatched using them.

Sounds like you're doing good and the temps are settlin' down a bit. Are you measuring your temperature at the top of the eggs? Are you using the thermometer that came with the incubator?

I am using the thermometer that came with the incubator, I've got it sitting on top of the egg turner, don't have eggs in there yet.

The digital medical thermometer will work fine. Just run a glass of warm water until it gets to around 100F according to the digital medical thermometer. Once you get it around that temperature place the bulb end of the incubator thermometer into the water and give it a minute to stabilize...then stick the digital medical thermometer in there close to the bulb on the incubator thermometer and see what reading you get. Note any difference between the two and add or subtract from the reading on the incubator thermometer as you need to....

If the digital one showed 99F and the incubator one showed 97.6F then you know the incubator one is reading 1.4F degrees low, etc., etc.,.

If you go to that thread I mentioned earlier and go towards the last page or so you'll see where I'm doing a similar comparison.
