Hello fellow chicken peeps! I know this question has been asked but being a newbie here I’m having trouble finding the answer! I have been bestowed on me a lot of plain instant oatmeal. Can chickens eat this without any problems? Thanks for any help to this question! - Dream
Hi, you could make a new post as you're on a new member's post, but welcome to BYC! :frow

Yes, chickens can have cooked and cooled oatmeal as a treat. We do it in the winter mostly though.

I will go ahead and make you a new thread for welcomes and advice here. 😊

If you don't get any biters on here, I would try your feedstore if it has a bulletin board or Craigslist or join a homesteading Facebook group in your area (technically selling animals on Facebook is not really allowed, but if you keep it on the DL and put it "up for discussion" so people can PM you about it, that's what I'd try.)

I said hi in your oatmeal post, but again, welcome to BackYard Chickens!

Hi Jen, thanks for welcoming. I am curious as to what you meant by the "expecting miracles" statement. Are you telling me that folks don't buy chickens from a small backyard farmer/homesteader?

Please let me know what you meant and if you have any advice or wisdom to share I would appreciate it as well as maybe just pointing out what may be obvious to y'all. I'm new to all of this, so all insights are needed and welcomed, thank you.

Jeff

the “expecting miracles” is always under my name in every post i make, it’s like my status. everyone has something under their name, the more you post here your status changes ( from hatching to in the brooder and so on) but if you become a premium feather member you can write in your status as whenever you want it to be. and you can change it whenever you want. I have changed mine several times one time it was “quacking up” another time it was “ playing duck duck goose” now it is expecting miracles not in a sarcastic way, but I am literally trusting in God for real miracles in my life, and through my faith in Jesus Christ, I am expecting these miracles to come to pass.
