Are you looking for mostly eggs from your flock? Or eggs and meat? Leghorns are on the small side. For a beautiful rooster, brown leghorns are the best. For meat, not so much.

Welcome to BYC! Glad you've joined us! If your looking for big, friendly, and broody with clean legs, orpingtons would be a good choice. The crele variety is a very pretty one, especially the boys. We named ours Braden because he looks like he has braids in his feathers.

Not much left for me to say except that I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

Personally, I have found the Topic of the Week articles a great resource and a one stop shop for questions which may have already been discussed within the BYC membership group.
