Hello everyone. Brand new member here with plenty of questions. But first I'll answer some questions from the template to help introduce myself-
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We started with chickens a few years ago, kept losing them to predators. Finally cooped them up 24/7 until after the fair was over, and then gave them away. Now have 10 buff orpingtons about 15 weeks old, with a coop, a fenced area, and a dog that I have finally trained to protect the birds instead of chasing them!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

10 BO's, all pulletts
(3) What breeds do you have?

BO's
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

Really looking forward to tasty, healthy eggs again, but overall enjoy watching them range in the backyard.

Welcome to BYC!!

Welcome to BYC, and good luck with your flock. Have you considered protecting your flock with hot wire around the coop/run?
Hi sourland. We will eventually be pasturing our gals at a new property we own, and at that time, we will be putting up 3 strands of electric wire. As it is now, our backyard has a fence around it, and then we fenced in an area as a run within the fenced backyard, and then the coop is inside it. I let them free range the entire backyard during the day. So far so good.
