Seems we've all been busy today!

Day 12 (3/18)

• 8:00 AM

- Major dip in humidity to 18%. Corrected quickly, it was only down for about 45 minutes

- Temperature holding steady

• 1:00 PM

- Temperature: 99.7°F (Perfect stability).

- Humidity: 52.5%. This is a great landing spot after that dip earlier this morning.

- Opened the vent to 3/4. This is the ideal setting for the second half of incubation to prevent CO_2 buildup.

• 5:42 PM

- Incubator holding tight cycles

- Temperature 99.4°F

- Humidity 53.8%

• 6:17 PM

- Noticed humidity climb. Upped room temp to 90°F and opened vent to 100% to nudge internal temp up and humidity down

- Temperature 99.2°F

- Humidity 56.1%

• 6:29 PM

- Strategy working. Humidity dropping rapidly

- Temperature 99.0°F

- Humidity 52.5%

• 9:09 PM

- Environment stable

- Temperature 99.5°F

- Humidity 50.6%

Lucky Day 13!!

Biological Milestone: Day 13
Hardening Beaks: The "egg tooth" is fully formed, and the rest of the beak is beginning to calcify and harden today.
Scaling Up: Distinct scales are now appearing on the legs and feet of your embryos.
Activity: They are growing very large relative to the egg space now, which is why that extra ventilation you provided is so important.

Grow, babies, grow! 🌱🐥

Biological Milestone: Day 14

Today is a pivotal day in the development of your 6 embryos:
  • Positioning for Hatch: The embryos are beginning to move into their final "hatching position." They will start turning so their heads are near the large end of the egg (the air cell) and tucking their heads under their right wings.
  • Nutrient Shift: They are rapidly absorbing the remaining egg white (albumen) to fuel this final week of growth.
  • Internal Development: The skull is beginning to finish its hardening process.

Yesterday's notes:

Day 13 (3/19)

• 6:44 AM:
- Noticed the humidity had dipped to 47.7%.
- Leaving for work at 7:00 am

• 6:45 AM:
- Added a splash of water to Port A.
- Current Status: Temperature 99.7°F and humidity has stabilized at 58.2%.
- Ventilation: Remaining at 100% open to ensure the developing embryos get maximum oxygen.

• 2:51 PM:
- Temperature 99.1°F
- Humidity at 58%
- After checking in, the vent was opened fully to help the eggs breathe

• 7:00 PM:
- Added a splash of water to Port A as the humidity began to trend downward.
- Stabilized well following the water addition
- The 90°F room temperature continued to act as a crucial thermal buffer, ensuring the internal temp stayed within the safe biological zone (97°F–102°F).
