(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I worked on an egg farm when I was a teenager, but this is my first time owning chickens. We got our first 4 in April 2022 and went back in May for 4 more.

I have 4 Rhode Island Reds and 4 Barred Rock
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I got them for the eggs, but found out very quickly how entertaining they are.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I enjoy gardening, fiber arts, and reading.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We're a family of 3 living in North Texas. We own a small pool company for a living and garden for leisure.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I noticed one of my Barred Rock's comb was a deeper color than the others' and her(? It was sold as a pullet
) coloring is much lighter. I was searching the internet to see if she might possibly be a he. It would be a problem because we can't have roos in city limits. I still couldn't tell by answers to other similar questions, so I joined so I could post a picture and ask for myself.
